One Billion Voices Campaign for Science and Innovation
Dear Friends and Future Colleagues,
The pandemic has been a scary time for everyone – but in many ways, it’s also showing us the best of humanity. Science is the foundation of our response from dedicated medical professionals, disease control centers, and scientists. Even though we may be physically distant, there has never been a better time to come together to support scientific and medical initiatives that can protect our health, our societies, and our economies.
In 2015 the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development goals, and world leaders agreed on the important need to support health, economic, environmental, educational, and social advancement. Kids and adults alike know that scientific advancement underpins this important work, and we are optimistic about the innovation that science can bring to our planet’s most critical needs today and in the future. This is why we, The Girls in Science, are coming together to shine a light on science. We want to change our world for the better by unlocking the power of science to address world health issues, climate change, illiteracy, hunger, and inequality. This change needs the support of our global leaders – and it’s up to us to let them know.
