Climate change influences public health in many ways some existing health threats will intensify, and new health threats will emerge. Climate change is one of the most significant public health threats in our generation, from increased water-borne and respiratory diseases to hunger from degrading agriculture. Not everyone is equally at risk, and the most vulnerable in low- and middle-income countries are disproportionally affected. The global target to leave no one behind is critical to ensure the healthy well being of all.
The Girls in Science Health Alliance on Climate Change brings together the voices of youth, scientists, policymakers, health care professionals, and the international community to advocate for action to combat climate change fairly and equitably, emphasizing the substantial health benefits. Members of the Girls in Science 4 SDGs International Platform come together to communicate with experts on the relationship between health and climate change and advocate government and multi-stakeholders on investment in science-based solutions.
