The Girls in Science 4 SDGs International Platform is a Global Program of the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) launched by RASIT’s Executive Director, HRH Princess Dr Nisreen El-Hashemite, in 2018 to achieve equity in science and empower girls in science as Today’s leaders for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Our AIMS

Science for Sustainable Societies

Demystify science positive and normative science to help every girl see they have a potential path – and community – in science.

Pathways to Leadership

Amplify girls' voices and aspirations, support them in participating and developing their scientific skills and interests, explore synergies between the SDGs, and effectively contribute to society on a local and international scale.

Equality in STI

Close the gender gap in science to improve girls and women's well-being, achievement, and financial independence, bringing innovation, inclusive growth, and sustainable development to communities, nations, and the world.

The Girls in Science 4 SDGs International Platform works to understand and speak about Equality in Science for Sustainable Development. We work with Girls and Female Youth around the world to build a culture that supports and nurtures the principles of Equality in Science, Technology and Innovation by 2030 and beyond.

We are the Generation of Technology, so we are utilizing technology to ensure that girls’ voices are heard from everywhere, to reach those from all walks of life. Through our Platform we encourage and enhance critical thinking from a younger age. This is invaluable for youth no matter what field they choose to go into.

Huaxuan Chen, Founding Member of the Platform, December 2018, UNHQ

Our story
writing the future's history - TODAY

Here are some key in the history of the platform, prior to being launched:

  • In 2016, the collective voice of Girls in Science began with the vision of one girl, Rebecca Jekogian, who dared to wonder how it might be if girls in science joined forces to amplify all girls' voice. In 2017, at the second International Day of Women and Girls in Science Day, Talya Ozdemir became the youngest person ever to address an audience in the United Nations General Assembly hall, and she received a standing ovation.
  • In 2018, the Third Commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science significantly advanced the journey and leadership of girls in science. H.R.H. Princess Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite gave up her chair for the opening segment, for Huaxuan Chen to become the first 16-year-old to chair and moderate an official opening segment at the UN. The event also featured the first Girls in Science Panel launch, which focused on "Equality and Parity in Science for Peace and Development".
  • In implementing the Girls Outcome Document, RASIT’s Executive Director HRH Princess Dr Nisreen El-Hashemite called for launching the Girls in Science 4 SDGs International Platform, as a Global Program of RASIT, to invest in the Leaders of Tomorrow - TODAY.

Our Platform gives every Girl in Science the opportunity to share her opinions about how to achieve the SDGs.
We’d like to widen horizons of girls, and to inform youth of the variety of options that are available to them, whether it’s engineering, physical sciences, or social science. We’d like to raise awareness of how science touches our everyday lives, to excite the interest in science to real life, and to show the younger generations the importance of sciences in achieving sustainable development in a country.

Sthuthi Satish, Founding Member of the Platform, December 2018, UNHQ

Our Strategy
