ILHAM* Transforming Our World Competition

a solution-based competition around the SDGs for middle and high school students created by the Girls in Science 4 SDGs International Platform, a Global Program of the Royal Academy of Sciences International Trust (RASIT).

* ILHAM is an Arabic and Turkish word means Inspiration

Students are invited to submit their ideas on the development and deployment of new innovative ideas, technology, initiatives, and programs related to each year's topic. Participants are encouraged to think in terms of local solutions for these global challenges utilising their research and creative skills. We invite students to imagine both radical and groundbreaking solutions, and to consider how they themselves might tweak, combine, and advance upon what already exists to create effective and sustainable solutions that can be implemented.

ILHAM invites students to work as individuals or teams should not exceed 4 members, ideally with a ratio of 50:50 girls to boys (if possible), to present their vision for ocean protection and development.

Applicants can apply to one of two categories: Advocacy (Open for students aged 9-13 years) Science Idea, Solution, and/or Action Framework (Open for students 14-17 years).

OUR AIMS ..

Encourage creative minds to move beyond traditional advocacy and public awareness and to empower students to act on their advocacy, by inspiring and supporting them to engineer implementable sustainable solutions.

Provide leadership in science-based solutions to achieve sustainable development and solve local and global issues.

Promote the next generation of young leaders by empowering them with latest research & development to innovate, demonstrate, elevate & advance their critical thinking skills to deeper understand issues and to develop solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of a community or society.
